Ilya Ostrovsky graduated from Ukrainian State Chemical Technology University with a Master’s degree in plasmachemical technologies. He specializes in surface treatment of lightweight metals, anodizing technology, thin film technologies, atmospheric plasma, PEO, and MAO with 30 years of experience. He has been a researcher and project leader in five EU projects and the LUFO program and is the inventor of 12 patent families.

Since 2013, Ilya Ostrovsky has worked at Chemetall GmbH as the Global Manager of Technology Platform Lightweight Materials in the Global New Technologies Department. Starting in 2024, he is a PhD candidate at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in the Research group of Sustainable Materials Engineering.

Ilya Ostrovsky represents Chemetall GmbH in several associations, including ESTAL Corrosion & Surface Protection Working Group, German Society of Corrosion (GfKORR), European Federation of Corrosion, International Magnesium Association, German Material Society (DGM), and European Aeronautics Science Network (EASN).
